Stellar Bulletin

Editorial policy

Stellar Bulletin aims to make astronomy clear without making it sound more certain or more complicated than it is. We distinguish established explanations from interpretation, describe uncertainty plainly and review reader reports with care.

Accuracy and clarity

We check factual statements against suitable reference material before publication and take care with quantities, terminology and scientific context. Where an idea is simplified for a general reader, we try to preserve its meaning rather than imply that the short explanation is the whole story. We do not present speculation as established fact, and we revise material when an explanation could mislead.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial decisions are kept separate from commercial arrangements. Any paid, gifted or partner-supported material is identified clearly where it appears, so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. A partnership does not guarantee favourable coverage, and we do not let a partner determine the conclusions of an editorial article.

Corrections and illustrations

If you spot a factual error, send the relevant passage and the reason for your concern through the Contact page. We assess correction requests and amend material when warranted, with wording that makes significant changes clear. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where that applies, the illustration is labelled. Illustrations are not evidence for scientific claims.
